is the handcrafted glass bead and jewelry design business
for Stephanie "bergina" Argentine. Stephanie's
mom nicknamed her Bergina when she was little and the name
stuck.
seemed the only choice when she wanted a name for her bead
and jewelry business. Stephanie's family pronounces it "ber-ghee-nuh"
but some customers naturally tend to pronounce it like the
name "Gina."
Stephanie became enthralled with glass beads in early 2003.
She has studied with a number of other artists, but like
many glass beadmakers, is mostly self-taught. She is drawn
to intricate dot work which shows itself mostly in her individual
beads and her "Changeables"
line which showcases 2-3 beads. She finds that dot work
is difficult to combine with more involved jewelry designs
and that led to her "Skeletons"
line of jewelry. Her "iMbalance"
line fits with her tendency toward assymmetry and won her
recognition as an "Emerging Artist" in the jewelry category
in the publication "Best
of New York Artists." These three lines of jewelry
were also taken to the prestigious Buyers Market of American
Craft (Rosen Show) as part of a booth of ISGB members.
Argentine is constantly learning and developing new work
with her personal vision in mind. Her upcoming designs will
likely be based on her egg shaped beads and her asian
dot flowers series. She hopes that her practice, attention
to fine detail and passion for glass work is apparent as
you view her work within this site.
She is a proud member of the International
Society of Glass Beadmakers and Artists
in Buffalo.
